February 6, 2018 / As seen from the Max Brewer Bridge. Titusville, Florida. I booked a last minute trip across the country just to watch my first ever rock launch.
Between the Falcon Heavy's inaugural flight and its side boosters landing in synchronicity, the best word to describe it all would be surreal. I know that sounds cheezy af, but bear in mind, it was an out-of-this-world type of event in the sense that those boosters literally left Earth and then came back around.
Aside from that, there was also something depressing, yet completely uplifting, about witnessing first hand how much effort and resources it takes to get off this planet. From primitive campfires, to painting the heavens with a fiery brush, it was a bittersweet reminder of how far we've gone and much further we've yet to go.
